John Hopere Wharewiti Uru (1868 – 29 November 1921) was a Māori of Ngāi Tahu and an Independent (and sometimes Reform) Member of Parliament in New Zealand.
He won the Southern Maori seat in the 1918 by-election when he defeated Taare Parata, and held it to 1921, when he died. He was succeeded by his brother Henare Uru.
